This project explores how current marketing strategies for Welsh higher education fall short in engaging Gen Z audiences, often relying on outdated visual tropes of peaceful landscapes and rural imagery. Through research and primary-source insights, I identified a disconnect between the branding of Welsh universities and the dynamic realities of student life, particularly at Cardiff University.

In response, I developed a series of motion graphics, video adverts, and TikTok-style content tailored for social media. Using primarily sourced user-generated content from current Welsh university students, the work captures a more authentic, vibrant, and relatable perspective of studying in Cardiff. With energetic motion, trend-conscious audio, and a friendly, inclusive tone, these pieces aim to reposition the image of Cardiff University, and student life in Wales more broadly, as exciting, diverse, and culturally rich.
